Biography

Vital Statistics: Born October 7, 1948 the oldest of seven children - five brothers and one sister. Married to the former Cecelia Vogelsang in 1985.  Two daughters, Monica 23 (a graduate of Miami University) and Christina 21 (a licensed cosmetologist).

Work Experience:

1976-Present… Owner and co-founder of Nenni & Company, CPA’s (formerly Nelson & Nenni). Provides accounting, tax and consulting services to individuals, small businesses and farmers in Butler, Warren, Hamilton, Preble and Montgomery Counties.

1973-1976… Senior Accountant, Deloitte and Touche, National Accounting Firm. Performed audits of medium and large corporations in the Cincinnati area, including Clopay and Federated Department Stores.

Athletic: Played high school football under Hall of Fame coach Jerry Harkrader and baseball under Hall of Fame coach John "Butch" Rossi at Fenwick High School. Defensive captain in 1966. Winner of the 1966 Pee Wee Football Scholarship.

Military: Joined the U.S. Marines in 1967 at age 18, meritoriously promoted to Corporal E-4 after Radar Air Traffic Controller school. Awarded a Certificate of Commendation in 1970 by the Mayor of Viegas Island, PR for volunteering to fight sugar cane fires. Served in the Vietnam War 1970-71.

Education and Professional: Graduated from Fenwick High School 1966, B.S. in accounting from Miami University 1973, Certified Public Accountant, 1976. Financial Advisor registered with the NASD in 1998. Registered Financial Consultant (RFC), 2003.

Civic Organizations: Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) 1978-1989 (Key Man, Board Member, Ken Cornella Memorial awards). Leadership Middletown graduate (Treasurer 1986-1990). Chamber of Commerce member since 1976.

Community Involvement: Advisory Board of Miami University, Middletown. JAYCEE projects: Junior Miss (Chairman 1979 & 1985), W.W. Sebald Self Reliance Awards (1980 1990). United Way volunteer. Arts in Middletown board member and treasurer 1991 1994. Middletown Community Foundation (Finance Committee), Middfest volunteer and board member. Big Brothers and Sisters, Board Member.

Fraternal Organizations: Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #218, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans.

Memberships: National Rifle Association, Butler County Farm Bureau, Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, National Association of  Tax Practitioners, Wildwood Golf Club, Browns Run Country Club, Holy Family Parish.

Butler County GOP Involvement: GOP Golf Outing Chairman and participant, Member of Executive Committee, Boehner Birdie Hunt Committee 1988-2007, Lincoln Day participant, past & present GOP Gold Elephant, State Representative Candidate 1995,           Lifelong Republican.

Community Servant: Two-term Middletown City Commissioner 1991-1999 (Chairman and Vice-Chairman) Chairman of Middletown Tax Review Committee 2000- present, Member of City Audit Committee 2000-present, Vice Chairman of the special Charter Review Committee that studied the direct election of the Mayor in 2005, Member of current 2009 Charter Review Committee.
